A Mercurial sign that divides and conquers, it compartmentalizes, yet fluctuates and reveals layers which are frequently hidden to others. It helps us remember that Mercury is in fact a psychopomp, carrying messages to and from the underworld with a certain lightheartedness akin to the beating of a butterfly’s wings. This pollinator is an apt analogy for Gemini, as they glide mutably from one blossom to the next, playing messenger along the way. In a perfume, we can associate this sign mostly with fleeting or diffusive top notes, and even modifiers which steer the trajectory of a fragrance.

The Polydeuces themselves do not have the happiest backstory, and their duality was born from deception. Pollox was conceived of Leda and Zeus, in the guise of a swan. Castor, from Leda and her husband (the King of Sparta). They were believed to be hatched from an eggs rather than being born in the flesh, and Pollux was immortal though Castor was not. He was allowed to share this gift of aeternia with his brother, and they were granted immortalization as the constellation Gemini. Is there purity in this fraternity, or does it speak of obsessive codependency? Only Gemini knows for sure, though their reality can get warped when trying to make sense of the details… absorbing the knowledge of the outer world can be easier than mastering the inner.

Gemini perfume is a celebration of the changing, charming, playful nature of the twins. Airy almond blends with mercurial lavender absolute and palo santo fruit to enchant and intoxicate while inviting focus. Green tea and mimosa flower lend a soft, mutable face, while vanilla scented balsam of peru grounds and harmonizes. The scent of the sky and the nature of all that which is delicate and fleeting.
