The scent of bone, and bondage / death, and stillness. A resonant perfume crafted from sacred woods and resins of a Saturnalian nature, tenacious and true. Capricorn has an unfair reputation for being all business, so much so that the other signs forget they are dealing with a chimerical mer-goat, whose fishlike tail traverses the waters deep underneath the frozen surface visible to the eye. Its mythological associations are among the oldest of the zodiac, dating as far back to the Babylonian god Enki, Hellenified as Amalthea who nursed Zeus to health. In their honor, Capricorn perfume is created of animalic, hirsine labdanum; a balsamic resin of the cistus flower traditionally collected in the fur of grazing goats. Known for forming the base of Amber style perfumes when blended with vanillic botanicals, but Capricorn demands strength and structure through wood, which begs its balsamic and uncommon aromatics to take on new life. Blood Cedar, for the exaltation of Mars. Hinoki; the bones of the tree of Death. Smoked Guaiacwood, evocative of a leather gloved hand that holds the whip. A winter altar of dead trees and bleached white bones upon frozen earth.
