It all begins in the fertile black earth. The decay of the seasons feeding new growth, blooming from Persephoneβs handβ¦ is not the goddess of spring also the queen of the underworld? Nature begs to show us its darker side. Forbidden fruits that can nourish or poison, hypnotic noxious greenery, protective spines on savory thistle. The garden is one of humanityβs greatest artistic achievements as well; a living, highly curated gallery of thorn, petal and drupe. We celebrate our herbal, agrestic, verdant and vegetable kin with the sequel to 2023βs release. A creative collection rethinking the aromatics of vegetation.
Vegetal notes are unsung heroes of perfumery. Wild carrot lace, black basil, nightshade leaves and sharp thistles with bursts of feathery purple stun the senses, but take a back seat to florals or sweeter gourmands. There are times, particularly in the summer months, where one wants to revel in unique green aromas ambient around us. πππ―π‘π’π« ππ¬π±π₯ is a visionary fragrance for the avant-gardeners who get their hands dirty in the loamy, rich earth and want to smell like the fruits of their labor. Bitter wormwood and verdant galbanum invite the wearer to the kingdom plantae ahead, enveloping and supporting a unique heart of sharp artichoke absolute. A botanical soil accord centered around dark patchouli grounds and invigorates and creates a sense of disorientation, yet familiarity. A sweet absolute of chamomile entices, with a hint of herbal, musky catnip to lure in pollinators. Garden Goth is the dark response to a verdant fougere, the suggestion of victorian greenhouse gleaming at the edges; the sibling scent to our most popular perfume, Floral Goth. Created on the blood moon and laying in wait, this powerful yet gentle aphrodisiac suffumigant was inspired by the Libra/Aries axis and the botanicals therein. A balance of lunar and solar, Venus and Mars, and even a hint of Saturn, it is floral and woody, classically beautiful. Creamy ylang-ylang, crimson geranium, blood cedarwood and warm Peru balsam wood create a fiery, romantic burn for ceremony and hearth, or for filling your space with sensual enchantment. Evokes the spirit of the midsummer βred fernβ ritualβ sexy, dark and smoldering.

βThere is a power that has been since all eternity, and that force and potentiality is green!β - Hildegard Von Bingen
This collection of accords is inspired by the folklore of unique garden plants and their magical attributes. Each showcases a rare vegetal note that recreates a new take on a classic aroma, or builds up a fantasy scent of a plant for which there is no facsimile. They may be worn alone, added to other fragrances, or used to scent a 2 oz bottle of Avant-gardenerβs all purpose oil, included with the set. An unscented balm perfect for after-sun care or post-horticultural activity, made from biodynamic sunflower, wild carrot, and strawberry seed oils.

Unlike garden cultivars, feral lettuce is a bitter, soporific herb which has been used as a painkiller or to induce a narcotic state. Associated with the moon, it produces a latex sap and an interesting smell when marred. Used in love magic, and to hypnotize, but is overlooked often as a common weed. This aroma is fresh, peppery, intensely green, and so familiar yet fascinating that you may enchant yourself upon applicationβ¦

Teardrop shaped, creamy and borne of sacrifice. A botanical which has inspired perfumers as much as any rose! Lactonic and jammy with uncommon herbal notes that mimic this fruit, leaf, and all its lore. The death of the pollinator, the roundness of its milk filled teat, and the intrigue of its velvet greeneryβ¦ the perfect offering for Jupiterβs ingress into Cancer.

As electric as a shock of burst black berry, and the deadly opposite of our jammy fig. Though this accord contains no actual belladonna, it seeks to interpret, yet not quite encapsulate its intriguing sweet aroma with a hint of nightshade leaf. Far more challenging is representing its emotional natureβ its spirit is darkly femme, protective yet beguiling. Bright, disorienting, juicy and intensely verdant, it gleams like a twisted love charm upon the senses.

A seasonal update on a favorite Black Earth scent. This variant of our Bohemian absinthe accord is refreshing and pleasant, inspired by the Green Fairy herself, enhanced with Cascadian and Bulgarian lavenders, and a jammy absolute. Herbal, verdant, and a little numbing with a clean floral tint that promotes relaxation

If there were two things Victorians were most obsessed with, it is death and flowers. Private greenhouses full of exotic plants served as a status symbol for those who could afford the most unique botanicals. Floral Goth perfume is centered around a fantasy accord of black batflower (Tacca chantrieri), a tropical blossom resembling the face or wings of a vampire bat. Velvety shades of black, purple and green, as well as the damp greenhouse soil make a shadowy appearance at the heart of this fragrance, alongside nocturnal jasmine jam and strong black tea. The story opens with a wooden pencil scrawling out a vintage valentine, with more modern notes of nag champa and Djarum black, which ends on a base of deep aged patchouli and Cypriol. Reminiscent of a cold rainy day at the Botanical Gardens; dark, cold, slightly narcotic, and vespertine.
